DeepAssassin is a duo production & DJ group run and managed by Afrosoul & Dj Perc under the record company DeepAssassin Recordings formed in 2009 by both members. Goodman T. Philane, aka “Afrosoul” started his music career in 2007 after being inspired by international Dj’s and more other international music producers. He then pursued the dream of becoming a well-known Dj/Producer and started Dj’ing in local pubs and clubs in SA. In 2008 he got introduced to Reason 3 and Fruity loop 5 by a well-known producer “Dj Fale – Hood Natives” since then he produced a couple of local tunes and in 2009 teamed up with “Dj Perc” and formed DeepAssassin Recordings and have since released 11 (eleven) successful EP’s along with Joeking. Afrosoul made appearances alongside Mr. Cee, UPZ soWhat Records (Israel), Dj Fresca, Paso Doble (Canada), Aluku Rebels (UK) and many more other big music producers. Career Highlights “Afrosoul”: He released a hot EP under Melomania Records (Canada) and worked with Mr. Cee, Lady X, Hood Natives, Welly. Thamsanqa P. Gumbi, aka “Perc” started deejaying in 2001 his inspiration came from becoming a regular listener of the legendary house Dj’s Vinny Da Vinci, Oskido, and Dj Fresh on the popular youth radio station YFM 99.2. His production influences come from the likes of Dj Gregory Dasa, Julien Jabre, Osunlade, and Charles Webster. With no form of deejaying schools back than he teamed up with his long life friend “Dumisani Shongwe” and started practicing every after school/ weekends at the back yard of his parents’ house using tape decks and slowly progressing to vynals. In 2003 attending the Dj and Music Production workshop held every Saturday at Roesbank Mall [Spinout-Sessions], helped his network by getting “Perc” to work with the likes of Dj clock [AM PM Productions], Pex Afrika [Kalawa Jazmee Records] and Dj Mshega [AM PM Productions] just to name a few who now have also made names for themselves in the South African dance music game. Soon after completing his school years, “Dj Perc” pursued Sound Engineering as a career of choice. With his unique style of mixing he soon became popular amongst his deejaying peers soothing his follows with a far more synthy, tribal bassy sound which he is always known for producing in music production. “Dj Perc” has shared stages with some of the great South African house legends such as Dj Terance, Black Coffee, Dj Kent, the late Dj Monde and many more. In 2008 he met and produced with “Dj Fale” of [Hood Natives Productions] accompanying the success of releasing Hood Natives Mix-Tapes which were a 12 album EP combining all the talents of Soweto and Mafikeng alongside with Sir LSG and soon to become his business partner “Afrosoul”. Career Highlights “Perc”: In 2009 the release of the song “African War Cry” became one of the most popular played songs in clubs all over SA, without a licensing deal from major labels the song never made it on radio. In 2009 DeepAssassin Recordings was formed as an independent production label that has grown its brand significantly over the past years. The familiar way of marketing the label is through internet (free music downloads distribution to well-known Dj’s as promos / podcast). The style of music DeepAssassin produces is Afro-soul vocal house and deep tech. The duo is best famous for fusing tribal sounds with deep synth like melodies and other African Indigenous Instruments. With a lengthy list of accomplishments incorporating (5)five years of top notch production and party-spanking action, the dynamic duo “DeepAssassin” have proven to be amongst one of the most respected and resilient players in the South African dance music game. Our major affiliations are with the crew Hood Natives Productions and have released our debut single under [Hood Natives Productions] with the EP titled “Cum Laude” which is described by “Dj Fale” to be a smashing hitting Afro Tribal tune, with rare melodies and moving Afro drum patterns which show the wide creative scope of our sounds. The original mix went to number #13 on the top 100 Afro Essentials Charts on Traxsource.more
